THE CHALLENGE

Atheneum is a client (me :) ) dedicated to promoting the habit of reading among people. They believe that reading is a powerful tool for personal growth, learning, and entertainment, and they wanted to create a mobile app that will help individuals develop a consistent reading habit. Reading was a huge problem for me growing up as a young adult and that was what inspired me to pursue this project. My challenge was to design an innovative and user-friendly app that motivates and guides users on their reading journey so they could develop a good reading habit.

THE SOLUTION

To effectively accomplish the goal of developing a reading habit, the Atheneum app had to incorporate the following elements:

1. Personalization:
   I implemented a user-friendly onboarding process that allows users to set their reading preferences and goals. By tailoring book recommendations to individual tastes, users will be more likely to find books that resonate with them.

2. Gamification:
   I introduced gamification elements to make reading an engaging and enjoyable experience. This was done with the a timer feature where reading time was tracked and the time spent on reading could be earned used to purchase books on sale.

3. Progress Tracking:
   I provided a visually appealing reading tracker that shows users their progress towards reading goals. Include features like time spent reading, pages turned, and books completed to give users a sense of accomplishment and motivation.

4. Social Integration:
   I enabled social features such as user profiles, book reviews, and community forums to foster a sense of belonging and encourage interaction among readers. This will create an environment where users can share their experiences, exchange recommendations, and discuss their favorite books.

5. Push Notifications and Reminders:
   Send personalized push notifications and reminders to users to keep them engaged and motivated. Reminders can be set based on reading goals, daily reading routines, or upcoming book club meetings.
